My Story

Georgina Cartledge

Gina Genie in Edmonton Tales

Creative Director and Founder of SSA

I have had a very challenging life with mental health battles from childhood. Despite this I have always been filled with imagination and creativity that was encouraged throughout my life helping me to develop into a more stable adult in later life. My ambitions have been realized in the opening of my own Centre so I can now keep the creativity going and inspire others!

I was trained as a violin soloist with rigorous routine and loss of childhood but soon to give up and try the Nursing and Care professions. An early marriage brought me three wonderful children and I became a fulltime violin teacher and later music specialist in Kindermusik and Musicmaking on the Autistic Spectrum. I also spent a lot of time being a single mum and ran a busy household, taking in troubled teens and helping the vulnerable.

Along my journey of clinical depressions and obsessions I developed a great spiritual strength that embraced the true spirit of love, compassion and selflessness. I truly admire the beauty of the world and have enjoyed naming the rooms and places at the JUST BEE CENTRE to reflect this.

The naming of Hummingbirds LifeHub was inspired by the facts about the Hummingbird and their representation of perseverance, endurance and even eternity in the endless and tireless movements of their wings, that then keeps them so still above the flower that they are hovering over. To me this means never give up as we are given the strength to keep on going and to also be very still! Hummingbirds represent many things in different cultures including love and hope!

The naming of the Dragonflies Hub was also inspired by the facts about the many different species of Dragonflies and again the representation of ‘change’ that has its source in mental and emotional maturity, self realization and the understanding of the deeper meaning of life.

Dragonfly Haven is a very special sensory garden that we have been developing with trampoline and basket swing. We have created a beautiful shelter, called the ‘Sacred Snug’, with vibration floor and filled with instruments and artefacts. Large bespoke outdoor sensory instruments have been placed in the ground around the Sacred Snug that can produce beautiful vibrations and sounds. You can also smell the herbs and flowers from the raised flower beds.

I love to just sit, listen and watch nature…..birds, squirrels, butterflies and dragonflies.
